Is Life Hard?

For a very long time, I bought into this idea that life has to be hard.
.
No pain, no gain.
.
Gotta struggle for everything.
.
I did not realise that I was creating this as my reality.
.
Until the Divine brought it to my attention and I realised that when I had the choice between going an easier way or the harder way, I would choose the harder way.
.
For instance — Do what you love and what you find easy OR do what you do not like to do but the world tells you it will make you wealthy.
.
And I kept choosing what I did not like to do because I would have told myself that I had to do it.
.
I had to be responsible.
.
I would condemn myself to a life of struggle as I kept forcing myself to do things I did not want to do and I would then claim that well, that is just the way life has to be.
.
I now know that it does not.
.
Same things with relationships.
.
Keep forcing myself to be in relationships that drained me because it was the ‘right’ thing to do OR allow myself to find relationships that empowered me.
.
Again, I kept choosing the former which meant my life DID feel like a struggle and so I got what I expected because I CREATED IT but I did not see that I was CREATING it.
.
I thought it was just the way life HAD TO be.
.
